Storage bin types are used to group the storage bins based on their physical attributes such as weight, volume, length, et.. Storage bin types can be divided into large bins, small bins, etc.
How to define storage bin types in SAP S/4Hana EWM
Storage Bin Types in SAP S/4 Hana EWM system can be defined by using the following configuration steps
IMG Path: SPRO {Transaction code} -> SAP Reference IMG -> SCM Extended Warehouse Management -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Master Data -> Storage Bins -> Define storage bin types
Step 1: Enter transaction code “SPRO” in the SAP command field and enter
Step 2: Choose “SAP Reference IMG”
Step 3: Follow the IMG path and execute IMG activity “Define Storage Bin Types”
Step 4: From the change view “Storage Bin Types” overview screen, it displays the list of defined storage bin types in SAP S/4Hana EWM. To define new storage bin types in the SAP S4Hana system, click on new entries option
Step 5: On new entries of the storage bin types screen, update the following details
- Warehouse No: Enter the EWM warehouse number key for which you are defining storage bin type
- Storage bin type: Enter the four characters alphanumerical key that defines storage bin type in the SAP S/4Hana system,

- Maximum Weight
- Weight Unit
- Max. Volume
- Volume unit
- Max. Capacity
- Length
- Height
- Unit
- Max.Depth
Similarly, create other storage bin types as per requirements.
