How to define material number format in SAP S/4 Hana

You can maintain the material numbers format in SAP S/4 Hana system by using the following configuration steps

  • IMG Path : SPRO -> SAP Reference IMG > Logistics-General -> Material Master -> Basic Settings -> Define Output Format for Material Numbers.
  • Transaction code: OMSL

Step 1: Enter transaction code “OMSL” in the SAP command field of the Hana system.

Step 2: In the next screen, on change view “Materials Number Format” details, enter the following details.

Material number display options

  • Material No. Length: Enter the maximum material numbers length that can be entered during the creation of materials.
  • Material Number Template: Update material number template as per requirements
  • Check the fields option for Lexicographical, which defines the way material numbers are stored in SAP.

Define Material Number Format in SAP S4 Hana

After updating the material number display details, click on the save icon and save the details in the SAP S/4Hana system.
