How to Define Depreciation Areas in SAP

The chart of depreciation in SAP is a list of depreciation areas that are defined as per the business requirements of an organization. The depreciation areas enable the management of all rules for asset valuation as per country or region.

The definition of a chart of depreciation for each company code is a mandatory configuration to implement Asset Accounting in SAP.

You can maintain a chart of depreciation/depreciation areas in SAP by using the following navigation method:

  • IMG –> Financial Accounting –> Asset Accounting –> Organizational Structure –> Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation / Depreciation areas
  • Transaction Code :- EC08

Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation

Step 1: Follow the IMG Menu path Financial Accounting –> Asset Accounting –> Organizational Structure and execute “Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation/ Depreciation Areas.

Step 2: Now click on “Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation

Step 2: On the organizational object chart of depreciation, click on a copy as

Step 3: Now update from chart of depreciation key to copy to the new chart of depreciation key and press enter to continue

Step 4: A notification message of Transport number ranges and addresses displayed on the screen; press Enter to continue

Step 5: You will get a message as “Do you really want to transport number ranges,” press enter to continue
