What is control key in SAP?
The control key in SAP controls the procurement functions such as blocking vendor payment or all vendor activities until delivery of goods is cleared with the quality control process.
How to define control keys in SAP Hana QM
The Quality Management control key plays an important role in meeting the business needs of an organization. The control keys in the material master are defined at the plant level.
You can define control keys for procurement in SAP Quality Management by using the following navigation method.

Step 1: Execute SAP T-code “SPRO” and enter to continue
Step 2: Click on “SAP Reference IMG”
Step 3: Follow IMG menu path Quality Management – QM in Logistics – QM in Procurement – Define Control Keys
Step 4: On change view “Control key for QM in Procurement“: Overview screen, click on new entries button to define new control key in SAP QM.
Step 5: On new entries of the control key definition screen, update the following details
Description of control key:
- QM Control Key: Enter the 4 digits key that defines as the control key for QM in procurement in SAP
- Shot Text: Enter the descriptive text for the control key

- Quality Agreement Require

- Release Required
- Certificate Required

Message Control for Lock

After updating the required details for the new control key, click on the save button to save the newly created control key for QM in SAP.
