Handling Unit Type (HU Type) groups are used to group the Handling Units types in Extended Warehouse Management with similar physical properties.

How to Define Handling Unit Groups in  SAP S/4Hana EWM

Handling Unit (HU) Type groups for warehouse can be defined by using the following configuration steps

Path: SCM Extended Warehouse Management > Extended Warehouse Management > Cross process settings > Handling Units > Basics > Define HU Type groups

Step 1: Execute the transaction code “SPRO” and choose “SAP Reference IMG”

Step 2: From the Display IMG screen, follow the IMG path and execute IMG Activity “Define HU Type Groups”

Step 3: On change view “Handling Unit Type Group” Definition screen, click on new entries to define new Handling Unit Type Groups in SAP EWM

Step 4: On new entries of the Handling Unit Type screen, update the following details

  • Warehouse No: Update the embedded EWM warehouse number
  • HU Type Group: Enter the 4 characters key that defines the HU Type group in SAP EWM

Handling Unit Type Group Definition:

  • Definition: Enter the description of the Handling Unit Type group.

After maintaining the required HU type group, click on the save icon and save the details.
