How to define materials groups in SAP S/4Hana

In this SAP S/4 Hana MM Tutorials, you will learn how to define material groups step by step.

  • IMG Menu Path: SPRO > SAP Reference IMG > Logistics-General -> Material Master -> Settings for Key Fields -> Define Material Groups
  • Transaction Code: OMSF

Step 1: Execute transaction code “OMSF” in the SAP S/4Hana command field.

Step 2: In the next screen “Change view Material groups overview” click on the “New Entries” button to create new material groups in the SAP S/4Hana system as per organization requirements.

Step 3: In the next screen, the Material group new entries screen updates the following details

  • Matl Group: Enter the 4 characters key that defines that material group in the SAP S/4Hana system
  • Material Group Desc: – Update the short description of Material Group
  • Description 2 for the Material Group: In this field, you can long description of a new material group

How to Define Material Groups in SAP S4Hana

After the maintaining required details on the material group creation screen, click on the save option and save the configured Material group in the SAP Hana system.
