How to define attributes of material types in SAP S/4Hana
Sap S/4Hana system provided standard materials types such as ROH, SERV, FERT, etc. You can modify the types of the standard materials and copy the existing materials to new material types as per requirements.
You can configure or define materials types in SAP S/4Hana by using the following configuration steps
- IMG Menu Path: SAP Reference IMG > Logistics-General -> Material-Master -> Basic-Settings -> Material Types -> Define attributes of material types
- Transaction Code: OMS2
Step 1: Execute transaction code “OMS2” from the SAP command field
Step 2: From the change view Material types overview screen, select the required material type and click on option copy as an option.
Step 3: Now update the following details
- MType: Update the new material type key to create material type in SAP S4Hana
- Material Type Description: Update the material type description
General Data: Under general data, update the following the fields
- Field Reference
- SRef Material Type
- Item Category Groups
- With Quantity Structure
- Initial Status
Special Material Types: Under special material types, update the following fields as per requirements
- Material is configurable
- Material f.process
- Pipeline mandatory
- Mand. RR logistics
- Manufacturer Parts
- FFF class
User Departments
- Work Scheduling
- Accounting
- Classification
- MRP
- Purchasing
- Costing
- Basic data
- Storage
- Forecasting
- Quality Management
- Warehouse Management
- Sales
Classification
- Class type
- Class
Valuation
- Price control
- Account category reference
- Price control Mandatory
Quantity / Value updating
- By valuation areas
Retail Specific fields
- Material Type ID
- Display Material
- Print Price
After maintaining all the requirements click on Apply to save the details.
Step 4: Now a message will be displayed as “Number of dependent entries copied“, press enter to continue.
Step 5: Check the material type and click on the option “Quantity/ Value updating“.
Step 6: Specify that the material is managed on a value basis or quantity basis in the material master record for the relevant valuation areas.
After updating the fields for the valuation area, click on the save option and save the details.
Successfully we have defined material types in SAP S4 Hana.
